At the end of the day we had a group discussion about what we wanted to do next as the Guild of Independent Currencies. The aim is to get the Guild to perform more like a supportive network rather than revolving around Bristol Pound as the central coordinator.
Some key tasks were decided spread across some willing volunteers:
Set up a online discussion forum
This has now been done with the help of John Waters and Leander Bindewald from NEF and can be accessed here http://forum.community-currency.info/groups/goic
We discussed having another informal get together to coincide with the Bristol New Economy Summit 12th -13th October 2015. The Guild event is proposed for Sunday 11th October at a venue in Bristol tbc.
It would be helpful if you could let us know beforehand if you would like to attend, and if so let us know what topics you would like to discuss, plus any thoughts on format etc.. and you can do so using the short form here.
We had offers to host events from John Smith in Liverpool, Karen Leach in Birmingham and Rebecca Kinge and Cara Sandys in Southampton as well so we’ll be looking to head to those places soon.
The Guild website could do with regular fresh content and we are looking for representatives from different schemes to volunteer to add their own news whenever they wish. We can supply a login and it is a useful way to let others know what is happening in your area. If you would like access please email. Also groups are encouraged to email a short bio so this can be put on the website as well.
Ferrie van Echtelt from Lewes Pound and Melanie Shaw from Exeter Pound offered to help with a research group. This will start on the discussion forum set up here http://forum.community-currency.info/groups/goic please sign up there if you are interested.
